Designing products that are easier to

I'm Abhishek, a Lead Product Designer at IBM Cloud. I design complex enterprise and developer tools, like cloud infrastructure, DevOps and B2B SaaS, so they're easier to set up, understand and use.

Over 8 years at IBM, VMware, Cogoport, Brillio and Nedbank, I've cut cloud setup from days to hours, reduced search time by 50%, and redesigned platforms used by 10,000+ enterprise customers.

How I design.

I study how people work, turn possible solutions into prototypes, and help the team decide what to build and test.

  1. 01 / Research

Understand the task and what gets in the way.

I observe how people complete a task today. I look for repeated steps, missing information and mistakes, then check whether the brief addresses those problems.

  2. 02 / Systems

Agree on priorities with the team.

I map the steps, systems and teams involved with product and engineering. We use that map to agree on priorities and understand what each option would require.

  3. 03 / AI prototyping

    Build prototypes people can try.

I use AI tools to build working prototypes early. People can try the proposed flow, and the team can review the design before development begins.

  4. 04 / Outcomes

    Test and improve the design.

I watch people use the prototype and note where they get stuck or make mistakes. I then revise the steps, labels and interactions and check whether the task becomes easier.

From people I’ve worked with

The person behind the pixels

Curiosity is my starting point.

My path into product design took shape at National Institute of Design, Bengaluru, where I studied Design for Retail Experience. Since then, I’ve worked across banking, logistics and cloud platforms. Each new domain has taught me to listen first and get comfortable asking questions.

Today, I’m a Lead Product Designer at IBM Cloud. Before that, I led design projects and mentored designers at Brillio, including work with VMware. I care about giving a team a clear direction, making the reasoning easy to follow, and staying close to the details as the work takes shape.

Away from product work, I draw, lift weights and tend to my plants. Illustration brings me back to observation: slowing down, noticing the small things and finding a story in what I see.
